Resilience. Growth. Purpose.

Let’s rebuild together…

To me, successful well-being comes from our physical and mental resilience to weather the storms and setbacks of life. But by definition resilience is pro-active, we must prepare and practice resilience before adverse events hit us in order to benefit fully from it.

Resilience is a process of growth; a purposeful and continual adaption to difficult and challenging life experiences, through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and a resolute growth mind-set.

A number of factors contribute to how well people adapt to adversities:

  • PERCEPTION & MEANING - the ways in which individuals interpret phenomena (i.e., internal and external stimuli and events) and apply meaning to them.

  • BELONGINGNESS & SUPPORT - the availability and quality of social connections and resources.

  • MINDFULNESS & RESOLVE - the availability and application of individualised positive coping strategies.

When we practice resilience even adverse events can empower positive growth and incrementally, almost unnoticeably, improve our lives along the way.

Focusing on four core components - social connection, fostering wellness, embracing healthy thoughts, and finding purpose – can help build the necessary psychological scaffolding to weather any storm or set-back and cultivate a positive growth-oriented mindset.

My purpose is to help others be the best that they can be so they can thrive and flourish. You are the expert on you and together we can work towards a renewed way of being in the world - a way focused on positive growth, resolute action, and the pursuit of greater belongingness and purpose.

A little about me…

I am a dually registered Clinical & Forensic Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO ) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University in Downtown Toronto, Canada.

I practice both in Clinical (why you’re here) and Forensic (hopefully not why you’re here) psychology. However, my clinical practice (i.e., The Resolute) is where you’ve found yourself today - and where I believe I can help you.

I have a life-long love of learning and challenging myself to improve and grow in new domains of interest - with physical and mental practice often taking the front seat. I have played various varsity sports (ice hockey, soccer and basketball) throughout my life, love running and calisthenics, and am an avid body-builder (Men’s Physique).

I can playfully (and probably far too succinctly) sum myself up by sharing with you my two favorite books, which on the surface seem quite disparate: Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist and Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. Both stories are inherently about exploring, discovery, growth and the ethics of being the best you can be.
